The need for these images grows stronger as each day passes.
Each set of images is preceded by a personally written haiku
describing how I felt on the day they were taken.
Day 307 - 671
Halcyon Days - by Melissa Dunphy (text Jacqueline Goldfinger)
My senses aroused
She painted the morning sky
With shades of orange
As Christmas draws near
And families gather close
A moment of peace
The Winter Solstice
Brings the light of a new day
Time for renewal
At the edge of day
The hillsides were glazed with ice
Sparkling from sunshine
Howling were the winds
As dawn rose over the hills
A white holiday?
The wind was subdued
My excitement was unhinged
The sky was on fire
Shooting stars were first
Sunrise came soon afterwards
Both subdued by clouds
The sky was ablaze
On this Boston harbor morn'
Beauty on display
Winter fog settles
Suspended over the lake
We've turned a corner
Winds blow through the trees
Spirits from a distant war
Day of infamy
I could see the light
Glowing red in the distance
And then she appeared
Today is the day
Take a chance to do better
Before it's too late
Beautiful moments
Can often catch us off guard
Leaving us breathless
The fog hugged the ground
Keeping the sunrise from sight
Rise above and see
A lone pine tree stands
Competing for attention
High above the crowd
Fresh tracks in the snow
A bobcat, a deer, and mine
Now frozen in time
Grateful for friendships
Thankful for the chance to love
Blessed to know them both
Winds raced through treetops
Enhancing the air's cold sting
Diminishing warmth
Thanksgiving is near
Travelers hitting the streets
Glad to see the sun
It happened pre-dawn
And lasted for a moment
Now a memory
A grove of Hemlocks
Reaching out from dark shadows
To bask in the sun
Snow filled clouds above
Shed their frozen particles
And dusted the air
Rising is the sun
To kiss the distant hillsides
With radiant warmth
Light in the morning
Shines a bright beacon of light
Exposing our souls
It's creeping closer
As days and light grow shorter
Time for snow shovels
Eastern facing slopes
Captured the wind driven snow
Berkshire hills frosting
The leaves have fallen
Light snow is in the forecast
Coffee by the fire
Silence of night has passed
Wake to the sound of color
And observe in awe
One tall maple tree
Amongst a stand of tall pines
Shone above others
Giant marshmallows
Planted neatly in the field
Ready for winter
The Seven Sisters
Gentle. Graceful. Dignified.
Home in the Valley.
River fog pillowed
Cold air dropped below freezing
Behold the results
Floating wisps of dew
Danced on the waters surface
As daybreak soared near
Low clouds in the east
Obscured the morning sunrise
For but a short time
Frost was in the air
Ice crystal outlines on leaves
I could see my breath
A clear, bright sunrise
With the waning crescent moon
Abundant options
Showers overhead
Clear skies off in the distance
Magical sunrise
Clear skies brought us frost
Sunshine melted it away
New day awakens
Fall colors fading
Cold temps becoming the norm
Sitting by the fire
A change in venue
Provides a new perspective
On a brand new day
On the horizon
Waves of clouds danced in the light
Of the coming dawn
I watched and waited
From a sea of clouds she rose
In awe, once again
She primered the sky
With deep orange and yellow
Igniting daybreak
