This is a continuation of my pandemic distraction of taking sunrise photos
on almost every day one is visible.
Each set of images is preceded by a personally written haiku
describing how I felt on the day they were taken.
Day 945 - 1036
(Oct 1 - Dec 31)
Passion creates wonder
Wonder generates feelings
Feelings satisfy
Practically perfect
And yet, she’s hard to describe
Beauty beyond words
My daily routine
Filled with simple intentions
That generate smiles
Just pictures and words
While capturing my story
That's enough for me
When seen from afar
You know you are close to home
Light on the mountain
I feel most alive
When I know that one mistake
Could spell disaster
A friend once told me
Sometimes, art can’t be explained
It needs to be felt
Out of dark places
Seeds of new hopes are planted
The journey begins
Snow covered branches
Treetops kissed by the sunrise
Another day dawns
Leave an impression
On people you encounter
That will outlive you
It's the ones who do
For the ones that can't or won't
That get up early
A winters delight
Branches become snow catchers
Shining in the sun
Sweeping reflection
Between Tower One and Two
On these hallowed grounds
May you find comfort
In places you don't expect
And pass it along
Walking in my sleep
And dreaming of sunrises
Well, that was worth it
I rose in the dark
And was exposed to her light
One beam at a time
She wore her pinstripes
And dazzled all who noticed
Oh, to see the sun
The prince and princess
Have now departed this place
Pity, it was sunny
Hope was in the air
For a satisfying day
Mission accomplished
There will come a day
When something unexpected
Changes you forever
A conversation
A simple exchange of thoughts
Can be your sunshine
This is where we live
Where boundless beauty awaits
For all who seek it
A perfect moment
Lasted for a few heartbeats
While I held my breath
My body leaning
Bare trees were now struggling too
At the tower's top
The passing of time
A thousand missed sunrises
Godspeed to those lost
I begin my day
On a tower looking east
In search for her light
When the ground freezes
And outside air has a bite
Retreat to the fire
The change of seasons
Brings appreciation
For summertime warmth
Long were the shadows
From a newly risen sun
Cast on the cold ground
One in 8 billion
How can I be so lucky?
I won the jackpot
I was on my own
Patiently waiting for you
And then you appeared
An ordinary sunrise
From an ordinary place
Is anything but
Frozen fingertips
A halo around the sun
What does it all mean?
A lunar halo
In the pre-dawn morning skies
Brings awe and wonder
Silent and subdued
Sassy, saucy and sacred
Soft, sullen, and still
A solitary cloud
A singular mass of mist
A poignant statement
MY FAVORITE THINGS (Note: think Sound of Music)
Sunrise and sunsets and lunar eclipses
Clear skies and sun spots and fog in low places
Summer and winter and fall and then spring
These are a few of my favorite things
Lined pants and down coats and lots of hand warmers
Fleece tops and thick boots with waterproof liners
Friends looking forward to what my post brings
These are a few of my favorite things
When the cold bites
When the air stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
She spoke in colors
That were soothing to the eyes
A fleeting moment
Captured on a card
A string of ones and zeroes
Digital beauty
The fog of morning
Obscured the sun from shining
Leaving mystery
Low fog in the field
Covered the Great Swamp wetland
Making pure magic
Alone in my thoughts
As another day begins
My morning coffee
Leaves have fallen
Sweaters have replaced t-shirts
Her beauty still shines
Fear the coming dark
Whispering winds in the woods
Lost souls will arise
A treasured friendship
Like a beautiful sunrise
Can never get old
Never overlook
The beauty of a sunrise
As seen through my eyes
The passing of time
Is counted by the sunrise
And memories made
It’s been 16 days
And eternity for some
Happy to be back
Went out for sunrise
And had an obstructed view
I could watch all day
The setting was new
A sunrise on a sidewalk
In a foreign land
Rising from the fog
You take control of the sky
Leaving us in awe
Miles away from home
She greeted me with a smile
As if to say hi
A light in the woods
Led me to a gravel path
And breathtaking views
Beauty in this world
Begins from within your heart
And extends outward
She hid from my view
When first entering the room
Her beauty subdued
Let go of your fears
Break free from the talon's grasp
Experience life
Will there be a day
When I will stop taking pictures?
Not for a long time
I live by the sun
And its daily incursion
To light up my day
As an optimist
My glass is often half full
And refillable
A moment in time
Gone with the blink of an eye
Left a memory
